Hello again,
A few weeks ago I attended a careers fair at Oxford Brookes University- which where I am also a student at :) It was great to go back and speak to students who are contemplating a placement year at Microsoft. I could relate well to some of the students who weren’t sure whether they had the confidence to apply to such a well-known company. I encouraged them to apply because from my experience Microsoft has the ability to see qualities in yourself that you never even knew you had. Being at the event made me realise how much I had learnt over the past four months here and how lucky I was to be given the opportunity to work for such a great company.
I also flew out to Dublin for a Service Delivery team meeting for a couple of days.
It was great to meet other members of my team face to face for the first time. We completed some team building exercises which were fun and great for getting to know everyone better. During the day we had a consultant come in and assess our personality profiles. It was interesting to see that our personalities complement each other. Also it helped me to understand individuals within the team whose profiles were completely different to my own. Throughout my time in Dublin I presented to the group on a few occasions. This really benefited me as I struggle with my confidence especially during presentations so it was great for me to practice at this within a safe environment. It enabled me to see that I was contributing to the team discussions and as a result I truly felt like a valued member of the team. I have been invited back to Dublin in a couple of weeks so I shall keep you updated on how everything goes
.
