Last month, the intern committee were excited to announce the first Q&A with the directors at Microsoft.
“As a committee, we are actively trying to involve senior leaders to engage with the Intern, Apprentice and MACH communities to inspire, motivate and educate Early in Careers at Microsoft. …. we will try to book some time with an SLT member every month – and who knows maybe even Satya could attend one day” – Jaideep Nagpal
The committee has been working very hard to organise various projects involving the Senior Leaders of the UK subsidiary. All Interns, Apprentices and MACHs had the opportunity to put forward questions.
October saw Tamer Ozmen – Leader of Enterprise Services.
Tamer’s influence and experience within Microsoft
Having previously been the GM of Microsoft Turkey for over 5 years, Tamer joined Microsoft UK in September 2015. Now responsible for the UK’s Enterprise services business, his remit includes a deep focus on customer lifecycle management to help organisations disrupt their business models and digitally transform whilst driving usage of Microsoft’s cloud services. During his tenure in Turkey, he transformed the subsidiary into one of the fastest growing subsidiaries within Microsoft Worldwide.
But before Microsoft, Tamer’s started his career at Priceline.com as part of the company’s very first group of employees that conceptualised the business model and developed, built and launched the company. He was instrumental in the company’s successful IPO as well as starting the international sales arm of the company. Tamer went on to be the group vice president for online and multichannel at Orange where he developed and executed Orange’s digital transformation and grew their online revenues from £400 million to £1.4 billion.
Watch the Q&A
“The Q&A with Tamer was very insightful as to how SLT’s view the business and the culture. Tamer’s experience lead to the session being very engaging, so to have the chance to listen to him was amazing. I think my favourite thing was how honest he was about what drove him in the beginning”
“It was empowering, especially when Tamer was talking about his vision for Enterprise Services for the future, I really enjoyed listening to his answers on some of the questions. Would love to listen from him again in the future.”
“As an ex-intern who has returned as a MACH in Services, I thought it was great to see the leadership team engaging with early in career. The intern committee ran a very useful and well-structured talk with Tamer who highlighted the importance of change in the organisation and on how we being early in career can drive that change and positive transformation amongst the business.”
